A core pipeline program embedded in the Technology Center initiative:
Boundless Connections and Strength Solutions have been running the TECH Unleashed pipeline program since the summer of 2012. This program is for kids 13-17 years old interested in programming, augmented and virtual reality, graphic art, and video/audio editing. Participants select tech service projects that benefit their community and learn the technical skills needed to complete the projects.
While these community service projects are the glue that keeps the group focused on developing their tech skills, participants will also get instruction on project and time management, leadership and team building, public speaking, research, and industry networking.
The TECH Unleashed participants receive their own membership to the Boundless Connections Technology Center ($850/year value). They are the only kids (under 18) allowed in the Technology Center without a parent or guardian and for every hour the participants spend relaxing in the Technology Center, they will spend an hour assisting others and keep the equipment in order. This allows them to interact with the community, gain experience, and become known for their tech skills.
The total cost per participant is $897/year for over 160 hours of professional mentoring / meetings. Boundless Connections and Strength Solutions have worked to secure scholarship funding for participants that cannot afford the total cost of the program.
