We discussed Gary Vaynerchuck’s “How to think about marketing and social media in 2020.” This brought the idea of being vulnerable online and how we need to be ok with letting people see our authentic selves. Trying to be perfect leads to never publishing and is not authentic. Telling our story and letting the ‘growth’ of getting more and more comfortable with the tech IS what we do.

Taking the lead helps us to usher other people through the same process. Each of us has something we are worried about posting our videos and anything that highlights our humanity. If we had documented our story from the beginning, we would not be cringing about how bad the quality of the video is. We would be nostalgic about how far we’ve come and we’d have content that could be meshed in a time lapse video showing our progress.

Similar to Gary Vee, the platform is not the important part, understanding how to use each platform effectively and the flexibility to change as the tech changes. That literally is what tech literacy is. The worship of the past and demonizing of the future is how people are left behind. Tech literacy is a constant state of learning and our tech centers are purposeful about engaging people exactly where they are and helping be excited about constantly learning.
